That was quick on the £150.  Guess what I'm off to do, although my council did say Apr/May.  But it wouldn't surprise me if they said that to stop people ringing them up all the time.  They do seem to be fairly good at most stuff no matter which "side" is in power but then it is usually fairly close run.

I'm hoping that the slowest will be the ones they can't do automatically as they don't pay by DD.  Not because I want them to be paid slower obviously but they are going to take more sorting & will presumably take extra paperwork.  It all takes time especially when you are not really set up for anything like this.  I don't normally have much sympathy with councils or any other form of officialdom if I'm honest but I do with this.  Again they've been set up to take the flak.  Can you imagine what some people will say/do if they don't get paid before we vote.  Why do you think this one was set for early in the year & the energy companies for another 6 months later.

I hope yours arrives soon too badmemory, I was surprised it had arrived so quickly.
30/09! Wow South_coast, that's a long way off, especially when people could really do with it at the moment. I thought it would have been easier to apply it as credit to the council tax accounts, not sure why they've actually made payments to bank accounts instead.

A few more money-saving things achieved today. I cancelled a subscription to a homes/design magazine I have had a subscription to for a few years. It's is only around £25 a year but I don't enjoy it as much as I used to and the money will be better off sat in my account. I have also cancelled the disney+ subscription I signed up for last month, just for a month, as it was cheaper to watch some films on there that DS wanted to see than to purchase them from BT/Amazon etc.

As I thought, no response from the two marketplace buyers, despite asking them if they're still collecting the items today. Why people do it, I don't know.

I picked up two packs of low fat sausages reduced to £1 a couple of days ago, so I've just split those up into 4's and put them in the freezer.

The £100 from the ctax payment has been sent to savings and the £50 paid off the mortgage. I should be able to get the mortgage down into the next £1000 bracket next month too.

The sun has finally come out here and is warming the house (and me) up a bit. I have had two thick jumpers on all day and have still been freezing but refuse to put the heating on in the daytime for just me. I had put some fingerless gloves in the charity bag but I think I'll have to get them out again and start wearing them when I'm working at my desk as my hands get so cold. Normal gloves are hard to type in.

  • Just caught up on your diary...sorry to read that your DS has had such behaviour to contend with. Hope you are feeling better. Are you still able to visit your parents? Thinking of you....

Thank you HSL2 x I still have a rotten cold and test are still negative, but I’ll see how I am tomorrow. I don’t want to risk giving them anything, but I know my Dad desperately wants my help with something in the house that is too much work for him on his own (he shouldn’t be doing it at all but he won’t listen!) and I think it would break DS if we don’t go - he has had several episodes of crying because he misses his grandparents lately. :(

I have the builder back here today, hopefully the penultimate visit now before everything I need him to do is done, although we have identified another job today that will need doing. I withdrew £500 last night thinking that would be more than enough and leave a fair chunk over, but today’s materials and work has come to £450.  :o I really hope the fencing is cheaper than I anticipate.
One more item has potentially sold on fb for £5, collecting tonight, and another £8 item has interest on it. I have given one of the bulky items away which I was hoping to get £30-£40 for, but it’s REALLY getting in the way and there hasn’t been any interest in it other than one guy interested who was a pain in the backside to deal with. Hopefully some of the other bits will sell over the next few weeks. I also need to list things on eBay after Easter, I’m pretty sure a couple of those will sell.
I’ve chased a refund that should have been in the account earlier this week. I’ve had notification that another will be paid soon, a third hit the account yesterday. :)

Well done on the sales, cashback and other money making efforts.

I hope you get to see wider family.

I've found investing in an electric blanket has massively reduced my gas bill as I've used the heating a lot less.
