I get a bit of income support and my husband is on pip and esa. Other then that it's just child benefits and tax credits. The women asked but didn't say I needed to put it on straight away. Would she be able to see on her side that my claim has not got carers allowance on it and shouldn't she have done it while I was on the phone to update it.

It may not have been obvious on the screen she was looking at, it is difficult to say really, but as you are in receipt of income support, that automatically entitles you to maximum CTC so you are not subject to the income test (and therefore the carer's allowance should not have any impact). Maybe that is why she didn't do anything further.
