Constantly confused, often befuddled

  • Last few months have flown, had a wonderful birthday and a lovely time on holiday, Kos is a truly beautiful island.

We have cancelled our Florida trip for next year, better to wait until we have more money. Tickets for Disney are fully moveable and cancellable so whatever we decide to do we won't lose out.

On discussion, we have sent back the refund from Kiev and Florida over to the credit card knocking £3570 off the total. That felt really nice! Disappointed about holidays but not the end of the world. When hubby gets home I am checking what the total is now. It should be around 2k, which is for New York in Sept this year.

    M&S loan is at : £2882.40
    Below £3k, amazing!

We are trying to save £150 a month just to pay for the gas bottles over the winter to make it hurt a little less when the time comes for the heating to go on. So much money, makes me very anxious about affordability. Thankful to have fixed on electric when we did, so at least we know what that will cost. Have a smart meter now, no idea how beneficial it will actually be, we are already careful.

Mortgage went under £137k this month too, its on hubby's tablet and he is away so another thing to harass him about for the most up to date stats when he gets back! He is working away a lot at the moment, he has lots of work for three months and then we will have to see what comes up after that! Scary but I am sure we will be fine.

Will go check up on diaries!
  • Yearly Mortgage Statement

It has arrived!! We got moved from Tesco over to Halifax when they stopped doing mortgages and it appears that £243.89 is sat in a 0% sub account, this is unpaid interest and can be dealt with whenever. Bit annoying as I didn't realise that! Ah well not much I can do!

    1st July 2021: £142631.86
    30th June 2022: £136971.72

We have paid £5660.14 off the capital and £2940.50 on interest, a total of £8600.64

This includes £600 OP from £50 extra a month.

This works out as an average monthly interest of £245.04, which is about £8.06 a day.

At this moment in time I am not going to include the interest amount, but will look at making a plan to get rid of it asap!!
