So pay day today, have saved £100 and payed £228 off Disney tickets, that leaves £700 left to pay! Did extra 10 hour shift yesterday and have my extra 12 hour shift tomorrow. Still feeling under the weather, cough is annoying but still not covid so work are happy for me to carry on as long as I PPE up, staffing was shocking yesterday. I won't be doing anymore OT this month! This money will go towards making headway towards holidays, once I am saved up there can focus on other things.
Little car is due its MOT this month, it passed no issues last year so hoping for the same again this year, hubby is hoping to sort the engine sensor issue this week.3 -
Oh and in money saving news, I just bought 12 months of antihistamines from @mazon for £2.50, both me and little dog need them, me all year round, little dog during spring and summer!
We also dug up some blackthorn from my dads land which was free, have planted them at the fencing in hopes they will grow, they produce flowers and berries so great for wildlife, and did I mention free??
Bought non make black trainers from work from @mazon for £20, they have really good reviews so will hopefully last a few months.
Played with some holiday budgets based on different things- including Ukraine holiday being refunded presumably, feels good to have a handle on it and have a proper plan in place! Won't lie, I am so looking forward to Kos in May, relaxation warmth and knowing the dogs are well cared for!4 -
Well I got through my shift, great staff on and it made a huge difference, I think I am finally starting to feel better today. I swear by night nurse! I have actually been sleeping much better which makes half the difference, and I slept in bed last night rather than the couch! Hooray! It is definitely not covid as our weekly PCR came back negative, I am never as confident with LFTs.
Only have one errand to run today, so my plan is to continue recovering, cuddle the doggies and chill, sort out all food for my shift tomorrow and catch up on some podcasts. Looking forward to my chest feeling better, would like to do some gardening and bits and bobs, I am so loving that everyday is getting lighter at the moment, it feels so good to see so much more daylight!4 -
Good to hear that you are feeling much better3

Just caught up with your diary, great progress being made!
Dogs are our worry for holidays, we tend to stay in the UK but are thinking we will think about going abroad in the next couple of years....budget permitting of course!
Do you have sitters that stay in your home, or do they go somewhere?

Completed my 48hour week, off today, in tomorrow off wed then in for two, then five days off! I cannot wait, I am pooped! Ended up staying late on Sat night as the night nurse was delayed, not what I needed to be honest!haha. So a 49hour week. 46hours the week before, that enough OT for the savings plan I think!
I have applied for another job, its a deputy position in a place I used to do agency work, I am hoping to at least get an interview as I am very tempted, the good thing about my current job is that I am happy enough so won't matter if I am not a suitable candidate, it would also be mon-fri 9-5 and I haven't done that for a few years!
Hi @bellevie! We have dog sitters come to the house, it is expensive but I feel it is worth it, we don't have children so I liken it to savings if we had to send them to nurseryI like having people at the house, they care for the house, garden, chickens, guineas and dogs! I feel reassured the house isn't left empty as well. It is definitely a large part of our budget planning and I know a lot of people would be horrified, but I couldn't go away and leave them in kennels now, breaks my heart thinking about it as they are both rescued and I think have bad memories! Total personification I know!

Been to the dentist for second lot of filling work and scale and polish, the scale and polish and needle were worse than the filling, still got a numb mouth now and as I felt sorry for myself I bought some chocolate and wine for later! In fact, working, feeling poorly and tired has meant I have been popping into the shops and spending money on random snacks and drinks in a ridiculous way. Think I need to start leaving my card at home unless there is a genuine reason to bring it with me! Food is one of my biggest weaknesses, food is my go to for every emotion and every reason (I have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder) and am feeling our of control at the moment. It is super hard to reign it in. I recognise spending on food as one of my biggest issues, but also am struggling with weight- I follow rebelfit though and am now more aware that dieting is the reason I am bigger than ever, working on my mind is the key!3

I am so tired today, two more 12 hour shifts next two days then finally have more than one day off in a row, really struggle with in out in out! Did a food shop after work last night, was tired so not a great idea but have no car today- green machine failed its MOT, have heard it should be sorted by this afternoon, a little anxious about how much it will cost! Would love it to last another two years, we would have savings etc by then!
Not heard anything about my job application, usually we hear quite quickly so not sure if they have decided I am not suitable, hmmm, surprised but it is what it is! Think I am only bothered as have been in work so much and am tired, grass is greener right?! Also, I think it would actually be a good job!
Little dog is very happy to have me home, we are attached at the hip today, big dog is always happy in her own company so is sleeping on my bedTook big dog to the vets a couple of months ago as her breathing is weird at times, they said lungs etc were all good, but it is more frequent and makes me and hubby nervous, she is about 13years old (rescue so only approx, she is between 12-14years) and suddenly seems like an old girl, she has always been a bouncy, crazy dog and is much quieter now. Little dog is a lumpy, bumpy dog, but has a new lump that is growing quite quickly, so basically we will need to take them both to the vets ASAP to get them checked out. I get very overwhelmed thinking something could happen to them, we adopted big girl two months after buying our first home and little dog was adopted a year later, they have been with us for the whole journey, which is over 10years and they are my world. I am one of those pet owners!
My mum is popping round soon so should distract me from my tired melancholy!2 -
Car has now passed its MOT, at a grand total of: £215.87
Had the money aside and that's done for another year! It is an old car now, but I do really love it and its little and bright green which I love. I actually owned this type and colour car as my first 'new' car I bought, she was 8months old and lasted me many years before I traded her in for the lovely peugeot which we bought for the boot space- dogs, not bodiesat that time hubby got a little run around but it didn't pass it's MOT the following year, which was a shame, but it was super old and cheap to buy. My dad lent us his Volvo, they were going to sell it but happy for us to use it in the meantime, but it was so big and costly. So I started looking and an old work colleague was selling the green machine, it was a cat c write off- insurance said it wasn't worth the cost of fixing. But the previous owner had paid for all the work- I have all the documents to prove this- and I paid £800 for it. Bargain! I did buy alloys for it- £100 and hubby bought new tyres more recently- £250, it passed it's MOT last year: £45, £300 for work on the exhaust and this failed then passed MOT! Still not bad all in for nearing two years of ownership, I could easily have bought a more expensive car and has the same issues.
