    Hi,

I currently have a Nest thermostat located in my living room for my single zoned heating system. This is great, but when we go to bed it’s normally cold in the bedroom and we normally increase the temperature in the living room before we go to bed in the aim to heat the bedroom.

Is it possible to add another Nest thermostat in the bedroom that we can control the bedroom temperature. How would this work as the 2 thermostats could be asking for different temperatures but are controlling the same zone?

Any help/advice would be great. Thanks.
If a path exists between the living room and the bedroom(upstairs) open the doors before you plan to do to bed use the heat in the living room to get the bedroom a bit warmer. It should be possible to have multiple thermostats connected to the same zone so if any call for heat the system runs. with some of the smart/remote stat systems I looked at it would need two relays at the boiler end and some the relay is built into the hub.

Nest doesn't do multi-zone, if you had two you'd could hook them both up to instruct the boiler to turn on, but they'll confuse one another and not track how slow or fast your rooms heat and cool.

Better alternative is to go for a system that does allow multizone through remote controlled TRVs.  Both Bosch EasyControl and Tado definitely do this, I'm sure other smart home systems that provide TRVs will do the same.  I have Tado and manage the house as eight individual zones, each with their own schedules.  Only thing to watch for is these systems get expensive fast.

Simple things to check first is that the rad in the bedroom is OK - make sure it doesn't need bleeding, and if its old you might want to consider replacing it as it could be full of sludge - or simply the TRV just isn't functioning any more.

That's not correct; they do but it requires the house to be plumbed for a zoned system, i.e. to have valves installed that can independently open the heatikng loop in the separate zones.

I'm currently having a real headache trying to work out which system to get for my hone with a zoned system in it, and Nest is an option but I can't work out what I need to do regarding replacing the current controller; as it's on show in the kitchen and I really don't want to have to try to install two new nest controllers in place of the current system, making a mess of the wall.

I don't have a NEST system, but have been looking at one together with smart-TRV's.  I was thinking to have the TRV's set in each room as desired and adjusting with time and to have the NEST central thermostat set to a higher level so that it operates as a time-controller but rarely limits on temperature.
    Would that work?
Better imo to go with a system (e.g. Hive, Honeywell, Tado, Wiser etc.) that supports smart TRV's from the get-go -  Nest currently doesn't.
