Assuming a UK form, normally as soon as the e-mail app on my phone syncs with the server the e-mails are coming from, which is every 15 minutes.

I'd advise completing the form at the latest before leaving for the airport, however appreciate there are some circumstances where this may be difficult (such as being outside the EU with an unreliable WiFi connection).

So the email with the QR code is automatically sent as soon as we send our details via the UK portal?

    It should be, yes.

I have a form submitted at 10:48 and an e-mail stamp of 10:49 on the 23rd, so more or less immediate.

When you have completed the form, does the QR code and reference number appear on the screen, before the e-mail, so you can print screen, if you wish?
Or, do you have to wait for the e-mail?

The code does, I remember that much. In any case the chances of being asked to produce it on return are minimal (its linked to your passport), and is waiting an extra 30 seconds for the email a hardship?

The email came through almost instantly. Also I echo what the above poster put - no-one is interested.

    You're forgetting about VeriFly

A number of airlines including BA are now asking you to use VeriFly or equiv to confirm your status to be able to fly and for any flight to the UK that includes giving them the PLR details (I just uploaded the PDF but maybe you can do just the QR as it was with the covid vaccination status). Certainly the message I got from BA was that without VeriFly you wouldnt be able to check in online but didnt test if that was true or a hollow threat. Certainly at the airport there was the usual Business line, a VeriFly line and a non-VeriFly line... the later was by far the biggest and slowest moving so even if its not mandatory then it could well be advisable.

I was more on about the experience on return.   In any case waiting 30 seconds for the email isnt a hardship.
