Sept/Oct time last year i was told by my supplier that they were increasing my DD by about 50%. I was £300 in credit waiting for the government money and I tried unsuccessfully to reduce the new amount online but ending up having to call them. Because i was a little annoyed by the time they answered i told them to leave it at original amount and I would monitor which i have all winter, DD has just gone out for April and I'm £279 in credit so feeling justified.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin7

I've subsequently decided to switch to Octopus as have heard a lot more positive stories about them, and my parents will get £50 referral fee and so will we. It was very simple to do. Not like it was in the past.February wins: Theatre tickets6

Octopus are brilliant. Customer service is top notch. So glad I moved from British Gas. I love that they're so forward thinking on their smart tariffs and renewable energy too.euronorris said:I've subsequently decided to switch to Octopus as have heard a lot more positive stories about them, and my parents will get £50 referral fee and so will we. I might have to have another look at Octopus. I've been with UW for a few years cos their sc was really low and I liked that. Now it's all gone to pot across the board but I've stuck with them because their app is really clear and easy, they do variable DD, they won't force a smart meter on me, and I've never had an issue with them.
Can anybody share any BAD stories about them, if you don't mind?Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.5 -
I have no ulterior motive, YoungBlueEyes, but you won't get better than Octopus Energy for fairness and excellent customer service.
No Energy Provider is perfect but, like the majority, I am a very satisfied Octopus Energy customer. Let us know how you get on.

If you want to see a variety of views, then the energy board is the best bet. Though I didn't see anything that put me off. And the referral bonus was a boon. So if you do switch, make sure you ask a friend or family member for a referral link so you can both benefit.February wins: Theatre tickets6

Me too, am happy to do a referral if you decide to make the switch & don't have anyone else to refer you YBEDeleted_User said:I have no ulterior motive, YoungBlueEyes, but you won't get better than Octopus Energy for fairness and excellent customer service.

We've just had smart meters installed by EDF. They said they would credit me with £100 if we went down that route (you have to be offered it by email, it's not a standard thing), so I'm just waiting now for that to wash through their system, then later this year I'll be off to Octopus as I have a friend who can refer me and we plan on having solar panels and batteries so want something more flexible than EDF can give us. I can't understand how in this day and age EDF still do 6 monthly billing, and despite me sending meter readings every month, their recent bill was an estimate. A slight underestimate and given that the rates have dropped fractionally, I'll go with it.

My sister has no end of trouble with Eon Next. Especially relating to using estimates, despite having the smart meter installed for over a year. They were estimating the best part of £1k pm at one point! She managed to get it sorted, but it took a while, and apparently the 'smart' meter wasn't being very smart and communicating with them when it was first installed.
ETA: Sorry, I confused EDF with Eon! Doh!February wins: Theatre tickets6 -
I was with M&S which used Octopus and have now gone completed over to Octopus this month, my Smart meters put in last May stopped talking to them in about October last year (gas and electric) and they said needed a engineer to come out and fix, I still waiting, they weren't happy at me chasing so for now I manually send my readings every month, I might try again now it's no longer M&SLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin5
