Dried dog food has gone up in price from £30.39 last April to £44.99 now, for 12Kg of Arden Grange chicken and rice. We had a subscription from Amazon.
I have hunted for the best price and got it for £39.60 from Pet Drugs Online and they gave us 10% with the first order.
There was a mix up with the order, we got someone else’s, but it was sorted promptly, our order arrived and the other parcel was collected the next day. That will last our little dog for six months,8 -

I usually shop across several supermarkets to get the best value on what I buy, but have been time poor recently.
So apart from small top ups at Iceland, been relying on Tesco for those bigger shops. Spending ridiculous amounts in there, I really need to find time to shop around again!8 -
Thanks to the library for the reminder of books due back. They have been renewed online.

Well, there's one price rise that isn't going to affect me in the future. I'm never buying a rectangular tin of corned beef again. Why does it have to come in these awkward cans? It doesn't seem to matter who makes it; they all do it. Of course the key tab broke, and neither of my can openers would go round the corners. I manage to make a hole in the top with the opener and some strong scissors and spent about 20 minutes - maybe more - poking enough out with a sharp knife to make my corned beef hash. Then later got the rest out for sandwiches/salad. It was easier once there was plenty of space in the tin.
I just don't understand the reason behind the tin. What's wrong with a nice easy ring-pull?
The corned beef hash was lovely. Just corned beef, onion, and baked beans.10 -

I agree, the keys are a pain.9 -

Is that still operating? I've never been sure when I've had other problems in the past, and the woman on customer services is somewhat of a sourpuss at the best of times.

Private rents keep going up but the LHA has stayed the same since 2020. My rent is going up another £20 per month from next month. There are no private rentals as low as the LHA. I am now having to find £180 per month on top of my housing benefit for my rent, but I have a decent landlord and I'm paying less than what they're asking for similar properties in the area. I don;t think I will be seeing much of my pension increase.

I'm doing some work at the moment with Ukrainian nationals here and this is a constant problem. The UA government is actually complaining about the current situation also. The other issue in that case seems to be the mentality of 'we agreed to 6 months and that is coming to an end', pushing vulnerable people potentially into homelessness.
That said, I don't want to tar everyone here with the same brush. I'm working on a commercial arrangement with a UA national in the UK at the moment (we both bring very unique skills to it and know of each other several years already) and the host family in this case have been great, offering to stay with them as long as needed. She hasn't taken anything from the benefit system though, having funded everything from personal funds, and is in a position to pay rent at commercial rates if necessary. I understand so many aren't in this position so this is a unique situation also.💙💛 💔8
