The big slipper always reminds me of the the Billy Connolly sketch , and the one about sleeping with coats on the bed. 😂 so funny, I think comedians who use observational humour are the funniest.

@dreaming I've got one! Picked it up as it looked like fun only my OH has claimed it as is frequently found feet snuggled in to it reading.

I may dig out the sleeping bag from the spare room tomorrow night and give it a go,and put the throw around my shoulders, (I'm allowed as I am a great granny so it won't look odd, anyway there's only me to see myself and as long as I am warm its what matters

Re the sleeping bags I donated mine to the ukrain appeal when my daughter's works were sending lorries over with warm clothes and camping stuff but I have a lovely waffle throw from Wilko's that keeps me toasty and less chance of me tripping over if i forget I have my legs in it. I also put my dressing gown on over my clothes to keep my shoulders warm and a water bottle for my feet.
I still have a couple of the old stone pig water bottles in the shed but can't use them as the washers have perished and i don't know where i can get replacements.

Ebay have some silicon stoppers in two sizes that may work?  If you scroll through, although most of the pictures are blank there is one that shows what they look like.

Or would a bogstandard hot water bottle one fit - are they a screw fit?

Thanks for trying to help but it's not the stoppers I need but the flat washers. The stoppers are made of stone like the water bottles but they need a washer to stop them from leaking.

Aldi had an electric foot warmer on sale when I was there on Friday, £19.99 IIRC. I was tempted for about 10 seconds before I realised that a good pair of socks (of which I have many) could do the job nicely instead. 

@Wednesday2000 - the sleeping bag was from Barnardos, London Rd, Leigh. I also bought a Frozen one from there for my niece (on a different occasion) so it might be worth a shot asking if you are in the vicinity.

I wonderif a hardware /plumbers merchant might seel the washers If you took the stopper in they might find you a rubber washer that might fit.Rubber washers are used in the mechanical bits of flushing loos so its possible or try Wickes perhaps if you have one local . Just googled rubber washers for stone hot water bottles and Homebase apparently sell them or there are various others on google

I have a stone hwb with a perished washer. I use elastic bands wound round and round, and always keep the bottle on its back, just in case! It's worked so far.
