You may not be - others are. 😉 Anyway, as I say, easiest way is to just do what suits you on the general threads. If you’re - for whatever reason - not comfortable following the existing etiquette on people’s diaries etc then it’s probably better just not to post on them to avoid upsetting folk as that is really not what this place is all about is it! 🙂🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@Si_Clist I took it to mean that some people are already indentifiable on here - ie username looks like an actual name, and wouldn't want to give anyone/a comment gathering bot further info about themselves.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7

The original post was a comment and a question.

I’m a decent example of this - I choose to use my “EH” handle in other places as well as here - for me it’s fine, I have no debt, and not even a mortgage and I’m very careful about exactly how much identifying information I put out. Others may have inadvertently made themselves identifiable here and while they don’t want to request a change of username, they also don’t want to have their comments about large organisations attributed almost directly back to them. Then there are the others as have been mentioned who feel (quite rightly imo) that the likes of the supermarkets etc should pay for their market research, not get it free from a forum designed to help people with money saving. Not least as often that information might lead to us paying more! 😉
The “etiquette” around how things are done on diaries always has been largely unwritten so far as I know, certainly in the time I’ve been lurking about on here! There used to be a thread with the various abbreviations that get used - DH, DD, DGS etc, but I can’t recall seeing that for a while, it may well have had some of the more formalised etiquette and courtesy in there as well. Ultimately it’s a bit like life in general I reckon - if you follow a friend into their house and they immediately take off their shoes, it’s good manners to at least ask if they would like you to do the same, even if there’s not a big sign at eye level demanding you do! The reference to diaries is also as far as I know pretty much exclusive to the D & MFW boards - I know there are a handful of diary threads on OS (again, for the avoidance of doubt, not this one) but they’re far from as common as they are elsewhere on the boards. For those of us who do spend time on those other boards though, thr courtesy of lead-following is pretty much ground in, I reckon.
MrEH is doing our weekly shop today - he has a list and a polite request to not go off-piste 🤣. It’ll be interesting to see whether there have been any further price rises although this week’s still is reasonably basic barring the addition to the storecupboard of a bottle each of lemon & lime juice, and a couple of packs of dried fruit to make the most of a modest special offer. Those will be needed for the Christmas cake in a couple of months anyway. I’ve got one of T’s own brand 400g blocks of extra mature cheddar on there which I suspect won’t even be in stock. Also noted when I was looking at prices online last night was the fact that we are now paying more for a 2pt bottle of milk than we paid for a 4pint I *think* about a year ago. If the extra cost was going to the farmers I wouldn’t mind - knowing it’s not though it’s frustrating.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

All they would know about me is I have more than one eye, both pale blue (they go a deeper brighter colour in summer for some reason), and I'm younger than ol' blue eyes.
Oh and I shop in Aldi now but also Lidl. I probably spend on cheese what some women spend on shoes.
Oh and I'm an opinionated sarcastic mare, with strong views on dogs.
If you can find me from that, bots, good luck to ya!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.17 -
If the supermarkets want to find me, they're more than welcome to.
You're all too expensive and I'd like some vouchers please💙💛 💔17
