@Toonie - I haven't tried the new vac packs of minced beef and don't think I will either, given the negative feedback from people who have tried it.  I read that Sainsbury's response went something along the lines of "customers will have to get used to it and learn to cook differently".     That's not really what customers want to hear - they expect their feedback to be listened to and acted upon but I fear it falls on deaf ears.

I thimk Sainsbury will have to change their mind if enough people refuse to buy it. The thing they need to remember is if people go elsewhere for their mince they will not return to Sainsbury for the rest of their shopping.

Whatever happened to retailers providing what customers want.

If it's not proving popular, is it turning up in the yellow sticker section? Could be opportunity to grab some cheap mince if you're not fussy.

I'm still too fussy - there's bargains, and there's things I won't buy and vac-pack, sloppy mince is one of the latter

@YorksLass Yeah, I was using it for making ragu and I could not get it to separate properly as it was so compressed. The other downside is the packaging they now use can't be recycled at home, you have to take it back into the shop, not great if you only go there every couple of weeks, as I'm not keeping packaging at home for that long even after rinsing it.

Amazingly all of my shopping came! The only downside is the bananas which aren't very ripe, but I'll just have frozen frozen with my morning muesli instead.

Another one here who doesn't like the vacuum packed mince from Sainsburys. I've tried it twice now, and disliked it both times. So I'll get from Aldi instead from now on.

Shockingly dismissive response from Sainsbury's.
I'm 70 this year and I'm not going to 'learn to cook differently' to suit a supermarket.

I can see this backfiring on them.

@Pollycat - Precisely that!  Like you, at 70+ years I object to being told to "learn to cook differently".  

Today it's dry with the occasional glimpse of a somewhat watery sun but rather chilly.  Glad I haven't put away the winter clothes just yet - layers are still in force.  I think tomorrow will be my weekly walk to the Co-op since it seems to be the only day this week when it will be dry.     My chosen membership offers this week are 50p off a tin of fish (any kind, will probably go for sardines) and 20p off bread/bakery products - I'll see if there's anything in the ys section, there usually is.

Tonight we're having a chicken stir fry with the meat coming from two large chicken thighs that I poached yesterday.  There'll be a bit of meat left over that I'll blitz with some onion, bacon bits and mushrooms to use as a filling for some pasties and the pastry trimmings will make a few jam tarts.  Currently waiting for a batch of chocolate brownies to cool down.

We have local elections next week and need to complete our postal votes today so I can post them tomorrow while I'm out and about.  A definite lack of candidate leaflets coming through the letterbox this year; we've had one from the Labour person and zilch from the others.
