Virgin letter pay increase letter of £2.50 yet automated line says they give £2.50 discount

Options
Where is this logic in this?

Received letter about £2.50 increase in March ring Virgin and the automated person says offer available for £2.50 discount for 6 months.

Why are they talking about a £2.50 rise and offering a £2.50 discount at the same time?

They are offering to effectively postpone the increase by 6 months for existing customers.

Best to double check that doing this doesn't start a new contract term.
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • I recently renewed my contract as I was going to be charged £44 per month from mid February. I currently pay £24 per month. When I log into my account on Virgin Media website to check my contract details it says:

    Your monthly service charge £24
Then £44 per month from July 2023

However I also got a letter saying my bill is going up by just over £3 from March (better than £20 increase). I am thinking that the letter was written before I negotiated for a new contract. I could be wrong. Does this increase apply to everyone, even for those on the 18 month contract?

So I decided not take the £2.50 discount so rang again to complain about the £2.50 bill rise and I was told they can offer me 100mb for £23 on 18 month contract, I accepted.

Looking back is this really a good deal? I currently pay £22 for 50mb fibre with a £2.50 price increase in March.
