Warminster is lovely. Good value and a small but well equipped town centre which has everything you need but never gets too busy (at least compared to the south east!). Westbury has great train connections to pretty much everywhere in the country but it’s a little bit more rough around the edges (but still pleasant enough).1

Thanks, I’m in the South East at the moment!Carolbee0

Don’t go to Calne. So many more places that are better. Nore Chippenham or Swindon.

It was pleasant then, not so sure about now.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....1 -
Also one thing to note in general (I don’t live in Wiltshire myself but my parents live in one of those towns so I visit regularly) - driving in Wiltshire can be a nightmare. Lots of narrow country roads, hardly any roads have street lighting so driving in the dark is always tiring due to having to concentrate so hard…. Plus Wiltshire has no landmarks, it’s basically just nothing but fields so without a sat nav you will have no hope in hell

Thanks, have quite a definite list. 2/3 bedroom bungalow. Lounge overlooking south facing garden, off road parking. Able to walk to library, local shops, nice places to walk and cycle.

Thanks allCarolbee0 -
"Nore Chippenham" Nothing wrong with Chippenham some of the best state schools in the country. Having spent time in Swindon and Bristol I would say light years ahead.
There are lots of small towns in the area and it really depends what you are looking for in terms of a town centre, closeness to Bristol , London, Bath , countryside , facilities. I would say £300,000 is not a massive budget anywhere in wiltshire, Melksham may compromise many things you look for but there will be some good value properties. Devices whilst ok is not connected that well in terms of roads and rail IMHO.2 -
