When you gift tickets, do you expect to be invited to the event?

comeandgo said:No, I would never consider taking the person who gave me the tickets. If they wanted to go they surely would just give me one and keep the other and say they were taking me.
Also, I think actual tickets are a bit of a strange gift as they for a specif time/date, so I think in a lot of cases if someone gave me tickets (unless it was my birthday) I'd probably assume they'd bought them for themselves and now couldn't go, so asking them to come with me would rub salt into the woundAll posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
If I wanted to go, I'd say I've got a spare ticket - would you like to come?If I gifted them to someone, especially if they were married/partnered, I'd expect the pair of them to go.0

Gifts are made without reservation. Otherwise they are not gifts.
Buy yourself a ticket as well if you wish to attend the event.1 -
No, it’s a gift, to do with as you wish, if they gave you £100 , they couldn’t expect you to give them £50 back1

Agree with the majority, if you give a gift then I expect the recipient to take whoever they choose. If I was expecting to go I would give them 1 ticket (or however many if I was expecting a partner/kids etc) keep one for myself and tell them I am taking you to whatever show/gig/theatre etc.0

- When you give someone a pair of tickets as a present, would you expect to be invited along on the second ticket?
- And on the flip side, if you receive two tickets, would you invite the gifter along to the event?

You do not give to recieve the same thing back.
They can invite if they want to, but should not be a must.0 -

Hello there @getmore4less,
Your wish is granted. Here's this week's:
Money Moral Dilemma: Should we pay for my fiancee's family's accommodation at our wedding?

No for both0

Who am I giving them to and what are they for? If I give 2 tickets to my husband for somewhere we both like then yes I would expect the other ticket to be for me. If I give him 2 tickets for a sporting event when I don't enjoy sports, then no I wouldn't expect the other ticket to be mine. If I gave 2 tickets to my Mum or Dad I would expect them to be for their use not mine.0
