Global shipping, item received on u.k side but lost in transit abroad and dispute opened

Hi I sent a parcel on 2nd December to the Lichfield Global Shipping Centre, tracking marked as received.
Parcel is then sent on to USA but this is out of my hands and I have completed my side of the transaction.
However today, 24th January, way after I first shipped the item, buyer has opened a dispute as item not received.
Is this even my problem? Tracking to USA showing as in transit.

Was the buyer happy to pay US import duties on the item(s) ?

All taxes/duties are paid upfront by the buyer with GSP.

eBay will cover the cost of refunding the buyer if the item has been lost.

Parcels can be 'in transit' for weeks in the US, if your buyer isn't very experienced in this field they're jumping the gun and the parcel will arrive eventually, from my own experience i know it can take the best part of 2 months.

As this was an ebay GSP then you should not respond to the dispute as it is between your buyer and ebay- but we all know the wheels of ebay grind slowly! Personally I always phone ebay - remind them this is a GSP item and they need to deal with it - they are never quick, I lost one US and 2 Italian in the past year or two and the Italian ones were paid out by ebay within days, but the US one they made buyer wait about 5 weeks. I was so cross about the US one I posted a thread on here, as we sellers have to pay out immediately somehting is lost, whereas ebay can stall for several weeks past the last estimated delivery date.

Phone ebay, get them to confirm they are dealing with it. There is nothing you can do here as ebay are entirely responsible and also have the extra funds anyway which they will need to refund, you have no liability at all.

As per dj1471 Lichfield is the ebay hub address and Global shipping is a fully included service at point of payment.

Thanks. December obviously would have been a busy month both here and the US. Probably just the slow US postal system now. Impacted by staff shortages due to Covid.

Meanwhile those sellers who still ship direct are forced to refund US buyers within a few days of the last estimated delivery date whereas if the item is delayed using GSP eBay don’t pay out for weeks. I really don’t like double standards, either eBay acknowledge that we are all affected by the delays or none of us are.

  • I had two GSP not received claims in December, both from US buyers. When the disputes were opened they were closed within a few hours before I even had a chance to see them. The buyers were refunded by eBay as per the posts above. Both parcels showed as in transit but the expected delivery dates had passed.
