Telegraph are saying as from 11 Feb, but don't think it's confirmed yet.

Get ready for the posts from people who have ordered these tests and now want a refund.

Anyone ordering tests 3 weeks in advance deserves absolutely no sympathy.

A little harsh - butI agree , at the moment doing anything early is rather foolish as things change on an almost weekly basis. I was actually abroad earlier this month when the pre departure tests were scrapped and the day 2 return tests changed from PCR to LFT

While there's some truth to this, everybody has different circumstances and there could be a legitimate reason why someone has to book tests early (e.g. they aren't sure if they'll have reliable internet access abroad so booked it before they left). Even if there isn't a legitimate reason, I never really understand the desire to scoff at people who have got caught out and lost money in a situation like this.

My post was in response to the several we have had on here from people travelling as late as June or July and already asking about booking their tests, I do not mean booking just before you go. My own PCR test was booked 3 days before I flew out and then not needed, but luckily I had booked  with testing4all and within a few hours of the Government announcement they had refunded me in full with a note to say I didn't need them- and offering a link to re purchase LFT instead.

I still think that booking tests now for holidays several months away is foolish .

Well, with how companies have been slashing the prices recently its been clear they have stock to clear and were predicting the end of party... I paid £8 and at last check they were £5 at the weekend.  At that sort of price it may well have been worth a bit of a punt (esp if NHS free ones are stopping before too long) in case the update just received was actually saying they're to stay for the long term at which point prices would have shot back up
