Asda bundle £7 a month - but how do I format my phone to use it?

Hi everyone
I set up the SIM card ok and bought a £7 bundle but it's telling me "phone is not formatted" to use the bundle of free texts and calls etc.
what does "formatting the phone" mean and how can I get the phone (Android) to recognise the bundle?
I've gone into Settings but the "Asda mobile" is not highlighted so nothing happens when I click on it

Is your phone SIM unlocked? Where did you buy it and who was the previous network provider?0

Is the message "phone number is not formatted" or as you put it without the word number?0

I found this on the asda website and entered all the various info in "APN names" on my phone
didn't really know what I was doing tbh
didn't work though (and took !!!!!! ages)
