Mum seems to have contacted a third party insurance company rather than Churchill

Hi @CC49 my sister is in this same situation. She has just been issued a letter to sign by a lawyer acting for Stocalfe. If anyone has been through this please let me know.0

Sorry, I don't come on often and therefore didn't see the additional comments. In the end, my mum had to attend a court case via a Zoom link between Stocalfe and Alianz and provide evidence that fortunately meant she avoided being liable for any costs. I still don't know how she got into that situation but unfortunately, since dad passed away it's the 2nd or 3rd incident of naivety!1

Good evening
I have fallen into the same trap. Had a none-fault accident few months ago and this whole time I believed it’s my insurance company dealing with my case but it was Stocalfe.. charging me an outrageous amount for a curtesy car, I am in a lot of stress and I struggle to see the end of the tunnel. If anyone have any advises of how to end this case or what are the procedures I would greatly appreciate it.0 -
Why on earth are people dealing with someone other than the insurance company itself?
Also, you either have paid the optional extra on your insurance policy for a (free) temporary loan car when your car is off the road, or you didn’t.
The only accident I have recently been involved with was a minor bump and that was dealt with directly through our insurance company (LV). A loan car was not needed.0 -

Procedures are just to do what the accident management company says. As long as you support them in their recovery efforts you dont have any liability. It's only when you become uncooperative when they ask for bank statements etc that you risk a personal expense.Frozen_up_north said:Why on earth are people dealing with someone other than the insurance company itself?
1) Like the person above, they google their insurance company and click the first link that comes up. So right now if I Google "Aviva Claims Number" the first link states "Aviva Claims - 24/7 Customer Support" however also next to it is Sponsored and if you look at the URL its going to car-insurance-services.co.uk so has nothing to do with Aviva and they are just advertising on the brand. Click through and you get a big telephone number to call saying "get help from our experts, no excess to pay". As the link has a marketting tag its possible that number is uniquely for people who searched with "aviva" (they could have different ones for DL, Churchill etc) and so they potentially answer the call mentioning aviva.
2) Some sellers of insurance sell push their customers to accident management companies, more commonly its brokers but Admiral is well known for recommending Auxilis for all non-fault claims
3) Car manufacturers, garages, the bloke down the pub etc recommend them (for a commission). Someone on here previously stated when they bought their new car it came with a flier saying to contact them in the event of a claim to contact them first. They wanted a Mercedes or VW or whatever brand the car was to repair the car and had just assumed they were leaising with their insurers for them rather than dealing with an accident management company.1
