Would a warranty cover a 14 year old car?0

When did the suspension seem off?midge406 said:
The suspension had seemed off to him so he took it to the garage to get it checked out. I’m not sure of the exact faults but he said they are saying the suspension could snap at any point and there are multiple faults.DB1904 said:
You'll probably find the warranty excludes wear and tear items so what was the sudden mechanical failure resulting in the car needing to go into the garage?midge406 said:
He’s contacted them and they want details of what is wrong. From some of the reviews online they seem to make it very difficult to make a claim, asking for photos of the inside of broken parts etc.Archie_Duke said:THe only warranty claim I ever made on a used car bought from a dealer was managed *by* the dealer. As you say your dad’s supplying garage is defunct, he should try contacting the warranty provider direct with the issues you say *another* garage has found. Only their reply will genuinely tell whether the problem is covered.
These clearly haven’t been caused in 5 months but I’m worried they will say it’s not covered or that it’s the dealers fault. Think the dealer put on a dodgy MOT.
Clearly not at the point of sale, so sounds like wear and tear and not covered by the warranty.0 -

Can’t go from passing a MOT to 5 months later and around 500 miles driven and being totally shot down to wear and tear.DB1904 said:

If the dealer was in business he could ask for a refund or repairs to be paid for as it’s less than six months since it was bought but he can’t as they are out of business. Cowboys.

Whilst the suspension set up on the c5 is a little more complex than most cars I suspect £3000 is day light robbery. The link bar for the height adjust appears to be a common problem but the part is cheap and easy to change. Main issue is if the adjuster seizes as it is likely to need to go on specialist softwhere to calibrate the height.
See if you have an independent citroen specialist nearby as they will know how to sort it for a lot less than £3000.2 -
There are two separate issues there and the fact it shouldn't have passed the mot won't help with the warranty company.midge406 said:

It can. Was there any advisories on the previous MOT's?midge406 said:

I would also take it to another garage and let them look at it, just to make sure the £3K garage is not trying to rip you off.Life in the slow lane0 -
What does a "totally shot" suspension look like? Quite possible a garage could say a car needs four new shocks and springs yet it be very possible for the car to pass MOT.midge406 said:

It feels like the garage is trying to put the Fear of God in to the O/P. I'd be very very surprised if anything more than a fraction of the work is actually needed and that it couldnt be done cheaper elsewhere.0 -
It seems like the problem with my dads car is suspension and steering rack. I’ve attached the part of the quote that details the problem and what is needed.

Unfortunately my reading of the warranty document is that only the steering issue is covered not the suspension element. I’m not sure but I think most of the parts listed relate to the suspension.0
