How will BG know where it has gone, they can only credit what the administrators tell them to credit.  If it has gone from your PE account then that is again down to the PE administrators to look at.

  • Won’t let me quote you but Molerat no need to be rude. My PE DD was paid end of October by the end of October I was with BG so why would they need to take another £200?

The answer will be in your PE final bill, has that arrived yet?

Your Direct Debit to People's Energy was to People's Energy, any credit, of which that would form part (provided you remain in credit after final bills) will be transfered to British Gas once the administrators have finished their process and Ofgen has signed it all off. At that point British Gas will apply the credit to your account.

At the end of October British Gas will have charged you based on either actual, or estimated usage and rates. The Direct Debit payments can be adjusted either up or down once they have a more regular picture of your usage, as well as and positive or negative balance.

No nothing, I paid  the DD on the 21st October and it was the same amount  it has been every month.
  • Hi Matt Matt, sorry won’t let me tag your comment to reply. I have paid a bill to BG for end October to December and have another bill to pay by Thursday, double what I was paying to PE, so not sure why any credit would have been taken, thank you for your help.

Once you do get the final bill you'll be able to check that they have taken all your payments into account and you'll be able to see the final meter reading they used for that bill.
Until then BG can't tell you anything about that balance unfortunately...

Hi Matt Matt, sorry won’t let me tag your comment to reply. I have paid a bill to BG for end October to December and have another bill to pay by Thursday, double what I was paying to PE,
The increase in amount will probably because of the increase in the rare you will be charged for energy. By being moved from a fixed rate tariff to the SVR your unit rate could easily have doubled, when factored in with increased usage during winter it is not likely your monthly payments are significantly higher than with PE.
not sure why any credit would have been taken, thank you for your help.
No credit has "taken", it is still with PE, once verified by the administrator it will be transfered to your BG account.
  • Matt Matt I have screen shots of the balance of my credit being £256 then has lately gradually gone down to £42 today so where has that gone? I wasn’t with PE in November I had already been set up by the end of October with BG. I was paying £132 a month so if they took £200 that was much more than an extra month.
