Emotive language like "stole" your pension doesn't add anything to the debate, pensioners will get 3.1% increase on the state pension, more than many people who are employed are getting. The triple lock was suspended as the average earnings figure went crazy due to people coming off furlough and was artificially high (8%+).Deleted_User said:Online security such as two factor authentication doesn't require an app, if a firm chooses to go down that route, use another.

These are being introduced by us and all UK card issuers to make sure your online purchases are as safe and secure as possible.
What's happening?
Soon you might get asked to perform a new security check during the online checkout process. You'll be asked to open your credit card app to verify the online purchase you're making. You won't be able to verify your online purchases through your online servicing account.
If you don't get asked, don't worry. There may be some instances where we don't ask you to verify your purchase.
Verifying your purchases in the app will replace the one-time passcodes that are sometimes sent by text message or email today.

It's good news if card companies are ceasing to rely on text messages for 2FA. As GCHQ warned, SMS is not a secure system. The card companies are relying on the telcos' security, something over which they have no control: it's only as good as the girl in the shop or call centre that lets you switch to them. There have been several cases of people losing large sums of money because their mobile number has been hijacked.Far better to verify purchases with a card reader. You have to have your card with you and know its PIN, so a fraudster would be out of luck. No need for a phone or signal, so why doesn't the dozy FCA insist that all providers use this?0

Had a card reader to access HSBC account. Used to break on a regular basis in my wallet. Could not stand being sat on 🤣Life in the slow lane1 -
