At worst it may be a scam. It's answered immediately by 'Josh, on behalf of So Energy'. That sets two red flags for me.
- Firstly, have you ever known of a big energy company that answers immediately with a real person and not a tedious set of menu items and endless 'We're experiencing very high call volumes' apologies?
- Secondly, he claims to be acting 'on behalf of', so it's not a call from SO Energy.
A 'Who Called Me?' search revels Negative and Dangerous ratings. As I've said before, always treat any cold call as a scam, especially if you've been wise enough to register with the Telephone Preference Service. It won't stop scammers but at least you'll know that they're not genuine calls. They may say they're from an energy company, but many scammers say they're from Microsoft or BT when in reality they want to take over your PC and steal your bank login details.1 -

I got the phone call too, and I am on So Carrot too.
I have just told then to go ahead and fix because in make case it seems to make sense. I already have another thread on the matter. This one:

I received this call today, and didn't have to give any information on banking, dob or anything similar that suggested it was a scam to me. I'm currently on So Carrot Essential V4 (IElectric unit is 15.7714p/kWh SC 21p per day and Gas 2.8571p/kWh SC 21p per day) and they offered me So Grape Two Year Loyalty - Green I cant find where i wrote down the unit price and standing charge anywhere, but I have a 14 day cooling off period for me to think about it in more detail, so I went with the offer as it made sense to me to fix it and protect myself from bigger price rises. The increase raises my monthly direct debit from £65 to £122 which isn't as awful as i was imagining it would be and is better than any other offers out there for me at the moment. I dont start paying the increase amount until my current fix ends in April.

Got the same offer.
I have a thread on this with all the info.0 -
I just used the Quote feature on So Energy's website front page and it came up with:
So Grape 24 month tariff, at 26.11 p/day, 7.95 p/kWh for gas, and a £40 early exit penalty, all VAT inclusive.
Odd that they should use the same name ("Grape") as their previous offering, which was 12 months at 26.11p / 8.46p / £20.
I've never found a way of seeing their fixed tariff rates except by using the Quote mechanism, and it's never thrown up a 24 month tariff for me before. Interesting.0 -

1 year and 2 year fix have always had same tariff name, until now 2 year fix only available via comparison sites and upon fixed rate renewal, 2 year cheaper with higher exit fees, renewals they calling it loyal grape 2 year
