I've always got an email when starting a new offer with Now TV and the terms always state it will continue unless cancelled.
Always got an email when I've successfully cancelled.

Seeing as you say "Or something. I really can't remember." it does seem like you didn't properly read what you were actually purchaisng and signing up to.
That's not fair really. More than a year ago I interacted with NowTV. I DO have a receipt for one-day service. I may have interacted with it again but I can't remember what I did. I'm 99% sure that I didn't sign up to anything, and if I did, I'm the sort of person who keeps an eye on 'trial offers' and cancels them in time, so I'd be very surprised if I signed up to one and then didn't cancel. But all of that is moot because I have no emails confirming my having signed up to a trial, no emails confirming that the trial period is over and that I will be charged forthwith, and no receipts showing that I'd been charged. No terms of service. No dates. No confirmation.

So I didn't properly read what I was actually purchasing because I probably didn't purchase anything in the first place.

Yes you did.  You purchased a 30 day trial of Now TV, gave them some card details and you would have been told (either on the website or on the email) your card will be charged after 30 days and until further notice.  Even if you only saw one day of the output you've used it.  If you didn't cancel it in time, not Now's problem.

You've already said earlier in the thread "I set up a trial account, or bought a month-pass or something, and then canceled it. Or something. I really can't remember."   That's " purchasing" albeit via an initial free trial that expired and you didn't cancel the service before the trial ended so it rolls over and you continued to be charged.  The fact you've already admitted it took you months to notice £50 a month was coming out for Now would suggest you probably need to pay a little less attention to what the email says and a little bit more to what is coming out your bank account.

I'm not sure if joining this forum to simply post "shills" and "gaslighters" on every thread mentioning NOW (some of which are two years old) is particularly helpful.

If you have a question to ask or advice to offer about NOW then please contribute.
