Is Santa Real?

Comments

  • I have never been one for elaborate Santa stories - for a start my kids were always frightened of him and have never been to visit santa's grotto. We still have to make sure that the presents are left on the front doorstep in the morning as the youngest doesn't want him to come into the house while we're asleep!

I do make a point of telling the story of Saint Nicholas though, and call him the very first Santa. So far I haven't had any questions about when he moved to the North Pole.

well I thought I'd share this with you....

Last Saturday I took my 3 sons (6, 4, 2) to Folly Farm (a theme park type place in west wales) and they have a gorgeous Santa's Grotto there.

So after waiting for a few minutes, it was our turn to visit Santa. I was offered a glass of mulled wine  and the boys walked ahead into the grotto.

Now the fun started :rotfl: DS1 who has aspergers (bear with me here duchy, bet this sounds familiar!) strolled up to Santa, takes a deep breath and dramatically put his hands on his hips (and said at double speed):

DS1: "Saaaaaannnta, if you know all the boys and girls in the world, and you know all the boys and girls who have been naughty and nice, and you know all the boys and girls in my school and what we'd all like for Christmas"

Santa (still smiling) "Yes young man"

DS1: "well if you really know all that and I know you do, and if you are the real Santa like your elf said you are.................

    what's my name?"

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm then stood behind my 6 year old trying to catch Santa's attention to mouth his name, when my fabulous 4 year old pipes up and said "Don't be stupid Con, of course he knows your name!" Genius :o:D:D

phew, we're safe for another year!

    Lou xXx

    that's hilarious :D

Hopefully we've got a few years yet, my sons are just 4 and 1 and the 4 year old is a firm believer (although he has said he wishes Santa wasn't magic and couldn't see if he'd been naughty :rotfl: )
Each year my brother in law dresses up as Santa, but as my eldest is too smart for his own good we daren't let him go into his room or he'll recognise him. So we send him out into the street and he walks up the street with a sack on his back (too far for my son to see who it really is) and he looks out the window and waves! Very magical and a sure fire way to get him to jump right into bed and go to sleep as he thinks Santa's on his way!!

God only knows what we'll do when he asks where the reindeer are though
  • I believed in Santa until i was 13 and even now aged 44 I still believe deep down, its just when you have your own kids you have to give Santa a helping hand otherwise how could he keep up:D

My 8 yr old is having alot of friends telling her Santa isn't real and a few have said they have never believed in him:eek:, we want to keep her believing as long as possible, my older two were about 12 or 13 and that was only because of what their friends had told them and at that age they believe their friends.
We love what we are doing and we love why we're doing it!!
  • While watching Christmas Films the other day i thought - it COULD happen! When i have kids i will keep them believeing as long as possible.

Every Christmas i woudl be So excited i would be sick and see my parents taking the presents downstairs but I still bellieved!

My daughter is 11 and I think she's been half thinking that he might just be real and half thinking that it's all so untrue! I like to keep on telling her that of course he's real! (Cos I think he is too - lol)

Anyway, last week in school her RE teacher actually told all the kids in the class that there was no Santa and that it was all a lot of rubbish!!! I can't tell you how annoyed I was when my daughter told me this.

I told her, "well, if your RE teacher doesn't want to believe in the Magic of Christmas" that's her problem. And my daughter replied and said "you're right, Mum, there'll be no presents for her on Christmas morning!" -

My DD is 10 and announced a few weeks ago Santa wasnt real. I tried for half a hour to convince her but to no avail. She asked me if I thought "she was daft", I replied of course not, to which she asked me to treat her a little more grown up and tell her the truth :(

Wise beyond her years that one **sigh**

I know that Father Christmas is real, I met him in Lapland. He has lots of helpers, some of whom dress up like him to spread a little cheer around the world - well, he can't be everywhere at once before Christmas - he needs time to prepare his strength to fly around the world visiting everyone's house on Christmas night.

Now, I live in a flat so I hope he finds a way to get in (let's hope he's got a skeleton key):D
