Thames Water & Meters

Options
We had a water meter installed by Thames Water in June 2021. They said that we would receive something from them soon that would enable us to decide whether to continue with the meter or revert to the old way of billing. Seven months later we have heard nothing. A VERY long wait on the phone produced an operator who gave us the number of a department that handles our particular query, that department does not answer the phone at all! Anyone else have this problem? Must be wonderful to have no competition.

    Welcome to the forum.

The above gives all the information.

You can find the charges for metered water on the TW website - it varies by the area in which you live - and you can read your meter and work our if a meter is to your advantage. You also should get a bill after 6 months although people 'working from home' is the standard excuse for poor service in many companies.

I assume you elected for a meter rather than a compulsory fitting; if the latter you are stuck with a meter.

Have you looked in your online account? If not, then set it up and you can view all the info you need. You have until 6/22 to revert to RV billing.

Have you been reading your meter to whether it is saving you money?

Our total water bill with a meter meter is around £300 less than just the standing charges for a RV tariff
