Left Virgin Media finally!

Options
After more than 3 years with Virgin Media I am happy that I managed to leave them next month!

Although their fibre speed is great, but being with with them is not a peace to mind at all.

Every year around January they increase their prices, and every time I have to call them and stay on hold to ask for an offer to cancel the increase.

Last time I spent more than 3 hours in total in calls to adjust my bill. They have promised a discount but that was not reflected on the bill and they kept transferring me from an agent to another until a senior person corrected it.

I had a sim only contract with them previously and it was a nightmare to leave them.

For anyone interested in joining VM broadband please be prepared to call every January to cancel the increase. I advise you to choose "Leaving" option when calling and then an automatic offer to cancel the increase will be played to you, if you want to stay.

If that offer was not there, some seniors can offer keeping the same monthly price but they will start you on a new contract for 18 months and take away your landline.

I have been through all of the above and I hated the minute I decided to join VM.

Well Virgin (and maybe Sky) are the last bastions of not committal CPI+3.9% rate rises, and so they may not last much longer.
  • It's a shame they hike up the prices, they're one of the only companies that offer Gigabit internet.

Hyperoptic. They don’t increase your monthly payment while you are in contract.

They have 12 and 24 months plans.

https://www.hyperoptic.com/legal/post/terms-of-service/ - "9.6 Hyperoptic can change prices for the Services at any time. If this means increasing the prices for the Services you’ve ordered, we’ll give you notice in writing by sending an email to your Registered Email Address. Clause 21 (“Changes to our Charges, these Terms, and/or the Services”) sets out how you can end the Agreement if a change we make to our Services significantly disadvantages you."

Yes I know it says on the front page of the website prices are fixed.. but the T&Cs reserve the option to do so otherwise if they so desire, even though it doesn't have a fixed rate of increase.
