In the current state of not having to quarantine until test results are back do you care if they are reliable or not? Is it not really a tickbox exercise of getting the reference for the PLF? At the end of the day most the sellers are not making the tests and so its not as if you are more likely to get a false positive by going for a bottom end provider.zagfles said:
You couldn't get any reliable provider for £5 when I went, about £17 was the going rateSandtree said:
Pay £17 thats refundable if requirements change or pay £5 thats non-refundable but is just as good if requirements dont change.zagfles said:Use testingforall next time, they allow free cancellations for any reason I think. I cancelled with them because my plans changed, got a full refund within a couple of days.
Personally I'd pay less than a 1/3 and take the risk but we all have our own appetites for riskReliable also means getting a reference that works, which you won't know until you enter it on the PLF form 48 hours before returning to the UK. I didn't even know testingforall did refunds, I just booked them because they were the cheapest provider that got good reviews at the time. Things might have changed since a few months ago.But OP seemed to be after a provider that could change/amend/cancel if reqd, so I suggested one.

You think the PLF form is able to verify if the code is legit or not as long as it is in the correct format of five letters and then 8 (?) numbers after it?zagfles said:Sandtree said:

Im not conviced its that clever tbh. Especially as there have been tales of people using the same ones again.0 -
Whilst I trust the government's vetting process even less than how far I could throw them the ability to generate a code based on the first 5 letters of your company name plus an 8 digit number really should be something any company passing the most primitive vetting would be able to do.emmajones1976 said:

Maybe it isn't, maybe it's checked after you submit and you get pulled up at passport control if it's not valid. Maybe you get contacted after you get home. Or maybe everyone gets away with fake id's. Who cares, I'm not going to risk it just because there's stories or rumours that people get away with it. There's stories of people getting away with putting fake numbers on their tax return, lying on benefit claims, going at 120mph on the motorway, smuggling goods through customs etc.emmajones1976 said:

The e-gates and manned gates at passport control check there is a valid plf against your passport number. The plf checks that there is a valid code for the day2 tests. People have been asked to show proof of purchase of their day2 tests on occasion, so either it’s a random check, or there is some checking going on behind the scenes.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'll admit that I have used them today for the first time (flew in from Kutaisi via Krakow last night).zagfles said:Use testingforall next time, they allow free cancellations for any reason I think. I cancelled with them because my plans changed, got a full refund within a couple of days.
Results back in 2 hours and minimal fuss, so would use again if needed.💙💛 💔0
