Hi all,
On the 4th of Jan 22 I paid Omega Swatch over £1000 via Bacs for a watch service and repair and I still haven’t had the watch returned to me, after being given the run around by this company I threatened that If I don’t get the situation resolved today (18th of Jan) I’ll contact my bank to start the process of getting my money back, my question, is this achievable?
thanks for reading.
Ron.

If you have made a BACS payment then short of a fraud case (which this isn't), it's highly unlikely you'd get anything, you can't just do a charge back for a BACS payment so that is somewhat of a hollow threat. It's been 2 weeks, what lead time did they quote you?0

Simple answer is no, as you paid via BACS.
My question is though....what do they advise a normal timescale is for a watch repair? 14 days doesnt seem too excessive to me.
Also bear in mind you cant have back a fixed watch AND the money. You either get a fixed watch back, or your money along with the broken watch. Its feasible they could have already commenced the repair.0 -

Would probably have been more useful to have checked/known your rights before making a meaningless threat to them.
Who actually is the company involved and did they insist on Bank Transfer (big red flag) or did you suggest it ?0 -
In which case send them a Letter Before Action, giving them 28 days to either a) return a fixed watch to you, or b) return the broken watch along with your £1000, or you will commence small claims court action.1

They sent me an invoice with their banking details. I then rang Omega to confirm payment, which they did the following day0

Thats fine. That doesnt change the advice I just posted though. Paying via BACS is essentially the same as paying someone in cash. You get very few rights. I would suggest in future paying via another method, and consider walking away if they dont offer a card payment option.0

Right, thats the first time you have mentioned July.
Personally if they have had the watch 6 months already (why so long already if you havent paid them anything up to Jan 2022?), I certainly wouldnt be overly concerned they still have it 14 days after I paid them to do the repair.1
