Unfortunately Électricité de France are just as bad as British Gas, if not worse...JadeeDevon said:OK seems that as soon as the companies have sorted out what their April tariffs are I may be in luck, I just hope I can get away from British Gas they are terrible.1 -
If worldwide gas prices are responsible for a 54% increase in domestic energy prices in April, why is the standing charge ( service charge) increasing pro rata? What justification is there to increase standing charges when they are not affected by the price of gas or oil as these are the administration and operating charges for the suppliers, can someone explain this to me please? My standing charge alone will increase from £42 p.a. to £164, that is an increase of 390%.
The reason I ask is because as the consumer, we can control the amount of energy we use to some extent, whereas the standing charge is fixed and the energy companies are, no doubt, aware of this.0 -

I've looked at the cheapest fix I could get from my provider, Octopus, and the SC's are 26.45 E and 26.10 G but the unit rates are 31.72 E and 8.70 G. At present my SC's are the same but the unit rates are 20.01 E and 3.91 G. If I had moved a few months earlier the unit rates would have being around 26.7 E and 6.5 G estimated as I don't know what the exact rate was. I am tempted to fix but don't know what the SC will be for Electric and Gas in the Yorkshire region plus I am a low user most days with a yearly usage of around 1800 E and 1700 G.Someone please tell me what money is0
