I'd also prefer it to be a little more obvious, but we have to be really careful not to make the OP's post look  too special.
We have to ensure that it's clear that all contributors to a thread are important.

Really.  Why?

I would have thought that it is quite important to know who the OP is, especially on long threads when you can't remember who started it.

If it's something personal to them*, then the OP is the most important person on that thread, aren't they?


*More relevant to some boards than others.

Subtle is definitely the word for it! I'm not sure the colour difference is identifiable at all for anyone who is colour blind, i'm not & I can hardly tell
