Anyone here currently on Flexible Octopus for gas ?

Just got an email as our current gas deal with Octopus ends next month and Flexible is one of the options quoted at 3.96p per unit which sounds great compared to other deals at the moment but I'm concerned it might/will jump considerably.

Flexible gas is the Ofgem capped variable tariff which will increase in April. You can expect to know the new Cap level in about a month’s time.

I take it there's no minimum period and you can switch any time without exit fees ?

Cheers, sounds like the best option for the time being.
We switch to that by default if we do nothing, so I'll probably do just that.

  • When flexible increases might be worth checking whether Octopus tracker gas still has 6pkwh maximum cap, if that is the case it probably would be cheapest Octopus current tariff for gas

Thanks, that's also good to know.

I suspect that would probably increase in line with the cap but I could be wrong

Kwh rate on that tariff changes daily, pre-set formula based on wholesale prices thus would reflect any reductions below current 6pkwh cap during warmer months.
Maximum product kwh cap was put on the tariff about 4.5 months ago in response to someone commenting how expensive electricity kwh rate was.
It is possible that maximum kwh rate product cap could change, product formula/maximum kwh cap has only changed once during the course of more than 4 years.

Standing charge is fairly low on that I notice.
