When will credit be returned from gone bust electricity companies?
Hi I was with Pfp and now with British Gas by default - I was told outstanding credit would be returned in 90 days (this has passed now). ofgem says speak to BGas they say ‘2-3 months maybe longer’. Sounds very vague to me! I am owed over £200 and could do with this to help pay my new higher tariff. Anyone know what the score is here? Are they just sitting on our cash?! Thanks

Good morning and welcome to the forum.Unfortunately PFP had some novel business arrangements and these are delaying their administrators' efforts to reconcile the accounts.Have PFP given you a final bill yet? (I'm guessing not.) Until that happens, PFP won't be able to tell BG how much credit you're due and BG won't be able to credit it to your balance.N. Hampshire, he/him. PFP haven't issued final bills yet and as @QrizB says BG can't do anything until the administrators/PFP hace sorted the accounts.
It is taking a very long time, companies who went bust after PFP have already sorted accounts and people have seen their credit. But unfortunately there's little we can do about it.1 -
I have the same thing with peoples energy and British Gas but is £450 and given BG have just billed me for £728 I could really do with it! I thought Peoples energy had given me a final bill.0

Was it a final bill based on actual meter readings or estimates?
Can they still send an amended "final" bill, if any estimates used were inaccurate? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.56% of current retirement "pot" (as at end January 2025)0 -
