Gift for my solicitor?

The real headline is that we expect to be treated so poorly by the conveyancing system, that we feel the need to shower then in gifts for doing their jobs properly.
This goes for any profession. Some people are exceptional at their jobs and deserve recognition. I like to reward people who I feel have done this and in doing so made my life that little bit better.

My solicitor has been amazing from start to finish and if we make it to the end (hopefully soon), it will be hugely down to her effort in pushing and chasing the other side. I have sold one house through her and it completed in 5 weeks and my recent sale has gone equally smoothly. I talk to her on the phone a great deal and she is lovely.
Wish my solicitor was like this! Who is she and which solicitors does she work at?

I wouldn't send cash or a gift voucher as others have said.

A glowing review, personal Thank You card, big box of decent chocolates and tin of biscuits which can be shared when staff are in the office will all be appreciated.

It's a sedentary occupation, so should you be sending additional calories? :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Are they allowed to get gifts? Maybe I email her an Amazon voucher at the end of all this as a thanks? They are working at home, so wouldn't want to send anything to the office.

Anyone else get theirs a gift?
What they can accept depends on the policies but cash or cash-like gifts such as gift cards are unlikely to be allowed.

Things like a bunch of flowers, box of chocolates, bottle of wine etc are normally fine.
A nice card is generally appreciated and if you can. completing any feedback forms they send you and mentioning them by name, and giving them a positive review on google / facebook etc will also usually be appreciated

Snookie12cat you could ask them or the main office whether if you send a small gift, it would be passed on. Even if she is working at home, she may be going into the office from time to time, or they may have a system for sending things on. Maybe avoid flowers or other things that are perishable, but stuff such as chocolate or wine, cards etc will all be fine even if it takes a little while to reach her.

Not really. It's possible to recognise that someone has been particularly good at their job, and / or to feel grateful for what someone has done even if they were simply doing their job.

A couple of years ago, I was blue-lighted to hospital with a life threatening condition. The paramedics and doctors were only 'doing their jobs properly'  when they saved my life, but I was, and am, very grateful all the same, and yes, i did send gifts and letters saying so, afterwards. Conveyancing is a lot lower stakes but you can still appreciate the work and the person doing it.

A few hours after a procedure, I collapsed. (Blood pressure right down.) The ambulance crew assessed me, and decided I was okay, but decided to call the duty GP. He spoke to me on the telephone for a minute, then said "Is the ambulance still there?"
