    Do you recommend smart meters? Are they helpful or just a way of checking how much you have spent?

    They can help you keep track but the main advantage, in my view, is they give access to more innovative tariffs (TOU time of use) that can save you money if they fit your usage patterns. Charging an electric car, for example, at 5p/kWh instead of the present 20+p/kWh. It should make changing supplier much quicker and easier, in the future, as it will take less time to verify end/first meter readings.

    Monthly meter readings given to the supplier keep you on top of costs .
    No meter readings then bills are just estimates .
