EDF ex-Zog switch to DD asap

For reasons that I cannot fathom, EDF has made this process un-necessarily complicated. When I tried to set up my monthly DD, the system rejected it on the basis that EDF had no idea of my annual usage. I pointed out that as my smart meter was installed on the 8th December 2020 and they had a smart meter reading for one year and one week later that this was hardly a difficult calculation. Two days later, the system allowed me to set up a DD mandate online. My Account now shows the revised tariff details. That said, it is all too late: my transfer back to Octopus goes through at midnight: the final straw was that DD payments do not come with monthly billing.1

Please let me know if that is okay with you."The CS rep is probably correct in saying that they cannot do it, but incorrect if you took that to mean that it will not happen...Good that you got the £10 gesture, but the back-dating will be run as a large batch job, not by the CS team on a case by case basis.

Neil : Perhaps just confirm this will happen?
I hope that some people have become aware of the DD backdate promise, that some will have been prompted to get their DDs set up in time, and that others will have been prompted to double check the promise is kept at the end of the month.0 -
If they fail to backdate to when they took over they will be inundated with complaints which would be upheld at ombudsman stage, the cost would be way more than the difference in revenue between the billing methods. It is EDF that prevented DDs from being set up.

The lower rate will only apply from the date the direct debit is set up. It cannot be backdated. What EDF will be doing is applying a credit for the difference in price probably in February as long as the direct debit has been set up before 31 January. It’s not rocket science & people need to stop being so impatient. The fact that Zog only went bust in December & where the accounts are at now is quite remarkable compared to all the others who have went bust & taken 3 months or more to get to the point where Zog customers are now.3

Yes, the small number of customers and the excellent accounting and administration have saved us from EDF's usually lamentable service.
