How about something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Security-Required-Chromecast-KC105/dp/B08CNLVYZH/ref=sr_1_4
I have TP-Links Tapo C200 and whilst it's not the best in the world it's night vision is good enough to see most things, as I see you already have Kasa plugs then the one I linked to such be easy to set up and control.0 -
My idea - have the boiler repaired! There may be a long(ish) wait for an engineer but by the time you have researched, purchased and installed a camera, you could have had the boiler fixed. If you do see a problem, what are you going to do? You cannot adjust the pressure or press the reset button via a web-cam!ChilliBob said:Back story: boiler is in the loft, boiler is on the blink. To avoid going up and down the ladder and across the loft multiple times a day I wanted to check on it like this!
Ideas much appreciated!0 -
100% having the boiler repaired, or more likely replaced, but it's more about when it goes wrong and how so I can tell the boiler bloke.
Admittidly by the time I get it sorted I may only use it for a day, but, I'll need similar for a nursery in a few months anyway!0 -
Oh and yeah, for sure via, cam I can't do anything, but say this afternoon when I came in, I popped up and saw there was no leak, but ilthe pressure had gone up to 2.4 "lwhen we fired up the heating. Could have leaked now but realistically ill look in the morning probably0

Would a webcam work? You'd need a long usb lead but these can be very cheap.

Was my suspicion, and the heating guys too, alas he said no. He was flummoxed as to the issue. Essentially if/when it happens again he'll pop round when it's cold and look again. Boiler is 14 years old and not serviced for 7 years so yeah, I'm fully prepared for a replacement!BUFF said:

Probably more work to program than getting a heating engineer in though.
If your worried about water leakage

Yes a laptop with a webcam sounds like a good option - if it was me at least as I have an old laptop and a decent webcam lying around.Norman_Castle said:Would a webcam work? You'd need a long usb lead but these can be very cheap.
You'd need power, but the boiler must have power, or it would mean a messy extension cord for a while.0 -
Very good but very expensive; as you say better to get in a heating engineer.[Deleted User] said:
