Funds are forward priced and the valuation point for VLS is 9:00 PM. Platforms also have a cut of time for receiving instructions, I don't know what it is for Vanguard Investor. So if you placed the instruction early enough today it may be actioned tomorrow, otherwise it will catch the valuation point at 9:00 PM tomorrow and be carried out for Friday

If you have put in a buy order it will be executed at the next pricing point, provided that you put the order in before the cut-off time.

Thanks! I placed my order just before 1pm yesterday by debit card and set up dd at the same time! Orders are dealt with at the next dealing time which for LS are 9am and it can take 2 business days to complete! So ive a feeling it may be Monday  before i'm up and running! 
 From what i can see from Vanguard's site the price is updated each day at 9pm. Will i therefore start at Friday's price?

Account became active yesterday morning and after the days trading its +.44%, +£2.20 ! This time next year i'll be a millionnaire!

It's very exciting! I started last January, was thrilled when I made a few pennies in the first week. Then a bit shocked when the value fell by £20 in the next month and I spent hours rereading all the threads on 'investing for the long term' I have a very small amount to invest each month but it satisfies that gambling tickle I get from time to time that also did not make me a millionaire, and hopefully in twenty years I'll have a lot more to show for my 'not' gambling.

The dealing deadline for that fund is 9 am. The valuation point is 9 pm. You will have met the deadline for the day after you placed your order. You will get the price at the valuation point for that day.
