It is not an offence.
Debt collectors are powerless and can safely be ignored as explained in the fourth post of the sticky Announcement for NEWBIES.
The PPC has six years (in England and Wales) to bring a court claim, or five years in Scotland (after which the alleged debt ceases to exist).
Yes, lots of people have been taken to court. The win rate for posters helped by this forum is extremely high. I have no idea if UKCPS have ever taken anyone to court. Have a look at the group thread that was mentioned previously by Le_Kirk on this thread in January 2022.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Just search the forum for Moorside Legal UKCPS. Dead easy. Copy everyone else once you get a LBC.ged600 said:So after 3 years and 1 day I receive a letter from Trace debt recovery. This is for stopping for less than a minute in Gateway house Manchester, in November 2021! offence 19.11.21. date on letter heading 20.11.24.
I remember ignoring all the letters of threat and ignoring them all. I seem to remember the final letter was they had three years to take action against me?Well I'm ready for the fight I've kept all paperwork and emails, I also now have a new M.P. after the election so he's getting notified also.
Has anybody on here ever been taken to court for this offence, if you can call it an offence?Yes, lots of people have been taken to court. Not by UKCPS they haven't. But Moorside Legal claims are easy to beat.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ok thanks,
I’ll await to hear from Trace debt recovery0 -
You are waiting for a Letter of Claim giving you 30 days notice, not a letter from debt collectors
The LoC is likely to come from Moorside Legal

The first few paragraphs of the second post of the NEWBIES thread explain exactly how to react upon receipt of a Letter of Claim.ged600 said:
Thanks for the information, would that be 30 days to reply to them or to the court?Gr1pr said:You are waiting for a Letter of Claim giving you 30 days notice, not a letter from debt collectors

Them. A LoC isn't a claim form. This is all pre-action stage posturing stuff.
