Appliances Direct - Neverending delivery delay

Hi everyone,

First post here, looking for some advice. It seems I foolishly bought a new Qled TV and sound bar in the black friday deals week with Appliances direct UK. On the day I paid my money (22nd November) the delivery date advertised was the 29th November. On the 26th November I received an email to say my delivery date had been changed to the 30th December as it was out of stock. We were away for Christmas so I accepted this and rescheduled delivery to the 4th January. On the 31st December I received another email to say delivery had changed again to 20th January due to still being out of stock. I complained and their very unhelpful Customer services just said they were sorry and that I could have a refund if I wanted. When I purchased the TV there were other places I could source the same model etc for a similar price if a little more expensive but those deals arent available now and I would have to pay probably around £150 more for the same products. I am reticent to do this but I fear that it will never be delivered. I have today received another email to say my order has now been delayed until the end of February. Do I have any other consumer rights other than to a refund in this case? Basically they must have been selling goods they didn't have to sell and were overwhelmed in Black Friday week. But I do fear that every month they will just keep pushing the delivery date back and at this rate it wont arrive until next Christmas. Any help greatly appreciated!

Consumer Rights is to cancel .
Selling goods they do not have in stock is not a CR issue  ,may be a Trading Standards issue .

In theory, you have "loss of bargain" rights (Google it).  You would have to show that you could have obtained the goods cheaper at the time, and so you have still lost out even if they refund you the money.  You might have to take them to court to get that money.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Thank you to everyone for their help.
  • It appears order acceptance is upon dispatch so unfortunately at the moment there is just an offer which either party can withdraw.
