Our dream kitchen is still some way off and have taken some interim measures to make the existing kitchen more serviceable which has also meant creating some of the ideas for the future kitchen in cheap units and will probably help the final design.
Currently have a 900mm slot in cooker and in short want to replace it with a single drawer unit with a hob on the top - the built in ovens were bought in the sale and put into some Ikea units a while back. The problem is that it needs a normal service gap at the back for piping and so Ikea is out the question and even companies advertising "no minimum order" then say actually they mean no financial minimum but its 3 units minimum etc.
Just needs to be a basic gloss white slab on the fronts and white carcass... wont match perfectly but will be good enough and the extra storage appreciated.

Howdens, Benchmarx, B&Q off the shelf...Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Howdens are theoretically trade only, but off the shelf in B&Q would seem to be the simplest option. The back of cabinets can easily be cut to allow for pipes.

You might get a better price by going direct to Travis Perkins (the parent company) and haggling over price. If you have the tools, no reason why you couldn't fit a back panel to the Ikea units if you really need a service void.
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
As above, you can usually go into Wickes and pick a unit up. Madison White is available in a 900mm pan drawer. Will cost around £240 (it comes in two parts). They regularly have sales on but not sure when the next will be for the ready to fit kitchens.0

Looks like a trip to Wickes and hope the 15mm is strong enough to support the weight of the hob given it'll be in a discrete worktop rather than shared across units... obviously have side support from its neighbours.

Slightly annoying that the spec linked from the appropriate unit is for the wrong item (a corner unit spec is linked to the 3 drawer unit webpage)0

I don't think Howdens are trade only, more "account only"
anyone can set up an account0 -
I have just done something similar (replaced a built-in, under counter fridge and a freezer with storage) in an otherwise high-quality kitchen. I didn't want to spend too much, as I wasn't sure my idea would work, and we will probably replace the kitchen soon-ish anyway. I used flatpackkitchens.co.uk as they had the right design colour and price. I am quite impressed with the result. The carcasses click together (I used a lot of glue as well!) and the result seems sturdy, square and accurate.

How to buy from HowdensAs we only sell to trade professionals a builder is required. This easy step by step guide shows how to get started on your kitchen journey.

However, if you want a 900mm wide unit, I don't think they do that size, would need to be 800mm.
As you will have seen from the oven housings, Ikea units are a bit deeper than most other makes, so would it stick out too much compared to those either side? As I said, there is a lot of space behind the drawers, so the unit could be reduced in depth and still leave space for pipes.0
