How to get rid of Quora

I was only trying to look at Pinterest and it signed me in with my Google account. I didn't realise I was signing up to Quora until I got one of their emails. I have had these before and they deluged me with emails.
I unsubscribed from the emails, from the link on the email. I also went to Quora and deleted my account. I had to create a password to delete my account, and they sent me an email about it (in spite of my having unsubscribed from their emails).
My first question is, will deleting my Quora account affect my Gmail email account? Also, will they stop pestering me with their incessant moronic emails?

I feel so upset as recently I went to a lot of trouble and it took me days, and I lost ability to post on a favourite forum, and lost information that I have treasured for years, because I had to change email address due to incessant spam.
I didn't give Quora express informed permission to send me their rubbish emails, I didn't even know they were connected with Pinterest. I am now feeling I might have to spend many hours over a week or so setting up a new email address. If I have to do that, I will never ever even click on Quora again or let anything unknown like Pinterest sign me up with my Google account, linked to my Gmail account.0 -
Don't panic, the emails should stop if you have cancelled their account, they are a well known website and I expect they will abide by any requests.
Deleting Quora won't affect your Gmail account at all and they will stop pestering you. Certain emails are mandatory so even when you unsubscribe from a company they are obliged to send you important information such as closing your account, change of password etc.
I think changing email address is a bit dramatic though over a bit of Spam, most good email providers like Gmail filter them out already and if it is from a reputable company you get the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email.

Thanks for your reply, very helpful.
I felt very upset because I only recently created a Gmail account, to escape spam, and so far it has been nice and clean, only getting messages that I want, and not even needing the junk folder. I lost so much in the move, and it took me a long time, was complicated. I have had Quora emails before and they are too incessant and pointless. It has been so nice living without spam. I didn't consciously sign up to Quora. And I will avoid them like the plague when googling questions.0 -
I remember what happened, it wasn't Pinterest, I had wanted to read an answer on Quora and clicked sign in with my Google account. Still, I didn't realise that I had signed up for Quora's incessant stupid emails. Fingers crossed they don't pester me with emails now I deleted the account. And kudos to Pinterest for not sending emails, yet.0

you can create a gmail 'rule' to.move anything containing 'quora' to the bin so.it never hits your inbox3

Never click on anything until you've checked it out.1

In the Quora settings you have an option to delete your account. Then just flag anything from Quora as Spam and it will soon enough stop hitting your inboxPast caring about first world problems.1

Pinterest sent me an email today, that I also didn't realise I had shared my gmail address with them when I wanted to look at something on Pinterest and signed in with my Google account. Likewise I unsubscribed, and fingers crossed the spam stops. Two sites I will avoid altogether as they pressurise you to sign in to be able to look at anything.
@IvanOpinion, thanks, I just flagged that Pinterest email as spam as well as unsubscribing. And I flagged yesterday's email from Quora as spam.
I signed up to gmail at the recommendation of a friend, who said they have good spam filters and I will never regret it, so I will see what happens.0 -
Sign in with Google = share your Gmail address. Isn't that obvious? (It may also equal sharing your contacts list, though I'm not sure on this).
In future, either find the info another way, or create a throwaway Gmail account and use that to sign in/create an account with these other sites.Jenni x3
