Travel

My parents are going a cruise next month there travel insurance is £500 pounds. Should I expect to pay more when travelling anywhere now? When do you think travel will reopen for unvaccinated people? I imagine Spain will be keen to let all Brits in first. I expect some places may be restrictive but first off we need UK to drop quarantine measures? When might this happen? This year maybe?

  • Is this the same Spain that recently was letting unvaccinated people in, but now aren't?

Yes I wonder if we reach the summer months if they will shift again?
  • Nobody knows. The simple solution would be to get vaccinated, you merely have to look at the Djokovic debacle to see what problem not doing so gets you into.

My wife can’t for medical reasons after a reaction to the first so any exemption is hard to come by so it’s a waiting game for us I’m afraid

Did she seek medical advice following that reaction? Another vaccination type can often be offered for the 2nd/Booster dose.

Your parents are likely to be paying more because they are older and may have more of a medical history. Plus it depends where they are going.
That doesn’t mean you would be paying a similar amount.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

If you do decide to travel in future (to a destination that will permit entry to unvaccinated travellers)and you’ve turned down the vaccine offered to you by the NHS,( not because you are exempt) your travel Insurance will not cover any COVID-related claims.

When taking out travel insurance, all customers are expected to exercise reasonable care for their own safety and must take reasonable steps to avoid a claim.

There are countries which will permit unvaccinated travellers.  The problem tends to be that they require pre-travel testing AND quarantine on arrival.  For anybody who can have the vaccine, doing so is obviously the easiest option.  I can't see uncontrolled travel being permitted for some time yet.

I have absolutely no idea, and anybody giving a timescale is guessing.
