Excellent you liked it in real life as it were! Good luckRosco32 said:
Really good thank you bbat. The house looked better in person than it did in the pictures. I spent 40 minutes there asking lots of questions looking at everything etc. Got a really good feel about it. I could imagine living there and putting my own stamp on it. I subsequently put in an offer later in the afternoon. The couple who own it currently have split up and therefore need to sell it.bbat said:How did it go?1 -
Echo that. Don't invest too much in it emotionally should your offer be accepted. We're fresh from a supposedly committed occupant (part of split couple) changing their mind and staying put costing us time, money and emotions. Not even an apology from them for the bother - often too wrapped up in the aftermath of the split to seemingly care.badger09 said:I agree with Flugelhorn's earlier comment about 5 weeks not being too long given the 2 week Xmas/NY shut down.
However..... a couple splitting up might not be the easiest of vendors. OK if its amicable and both have somewhere else in mind or are moving into rented/with family etc. But if one of them is a reluctant seller, you need to be prepared for a long, and potentially fruitless wait for your dream property.
Hope that's not the case here, and good luck.2 -

@Rosco32
When will you hear back about your offer? Has the EA given you a timeline?0 -
My offer of £283k was rejected. I’ve upped my offer to the asking price of £290k and that’s as far as I’m willing to go.propertyhunter said:@Rosco32

Hi op.
Just make sure you get an idea of this split. Try as far as possible to understand where they will be living afterwards, whether they BOTH want to move etc, and what is their timeline?
glad you've put the brakes on after this offer. Far too much hype about house prices.1 -
keeping everything crossed for you mate. Try not to get swept up in increasing you offer further and further (sounds like you wont!) if only so you don't make a rod for your own back when mortgage valuation time comes!1

Thank you. One of the owners is already out and the other has found somewhere else, so I'm inclined to think they want to move on this. The EA did tell me there are a few other offers coming in and that the owners want to consider them all. That's why I've increased my offer to the full asking price but not willing to go any higher, and if I miss out, then so be it.lookstraightahead said:Hi op.

Thank you and exactly. I'm not going over the asking priceTXC said:keeping everything crossed for you mate. Try not to get swept up in increasing you offer further and further (sounds like you wont!) if only so you don't make a rod for your own back when mortgage valuation time comes!
