No refund for Morrisons Xmas tree infested with bugs

Purchased a £20 potted Xmas tree from local Morrisons at end of November and put it in the house. A couple of weeks later I noticed a carpeting of little dead bugs (I think weevils) all over my floor around the tree and subsequently found it to be crawling with them. Complained to Morrisons, they took almost a month to investigate before coming back to me noting that they couldn't take responsibility unless I had proof the bugs were on the tree when I purchased. Would I have bought the tree if I knew it was infested? Won't be going back to Morrisons again now - hope they're happy with their 20 quid.

I bought some plants from .Morrison’s last summer and they died very quickly.  I spoke to them and they weren’t interested.  A few weeks later I noticed that they had loads of plants outside and many of them were already dead.  i spoke to their customer services and they didn’t care,  they said they had no one to water them.  Their loss

I always buy my plants now from our local garden centre.  Although they are more expensive the quality is high and the customer service outstanding.  You get what you pay for

To be fair to Morrisons, at least killing the plants probably also did for any weevils!

I think the supermarkets get the plants on sale or return so don't care about them.

I buy from them as soon as the plants arrive so they are fresh.

I have never seen or known a supermarket water the pants. They chuck them outside  and ignore them.

I prefer my knickers to be pre-watered and am disappointed that supermarkets refuse to bow to my whims.

It's better than buying them soiled...

We buy plants froma garden centre, last one bought from a supermarket was a rosemary bush and it died very shortly after purchase.
May you find your sister soon Helli.

We have a small Waitrose and they have quite a lot of plants outside in the summer.  There is always someone watering them and they look like they are properly cared for.

That's the difference between the 'great unwashed' Morrisons and a decent supermarket I guess - our local Waitrose also seem to take better care of their produce and plants.

Another who always have great plants is Lidl - not sure if that's just our local branch or not, but they're always well watered and look fantastic.
