Talk Talk Haggling

Options
My current deal expires next month, I think its the 26th of Feb. So my first question is when can I leave without being charged? And what are talk talk like to haggle with? I've never really had a problem with the service but just found a cheaper deal elsewhere.

Read the T&Cs  Usually one month notice needed.

By now, on your account online they'll have a basic renewal offer that can no doubt be bettered.  Some offers are fixed price, others have annual price rises - so with inflation + X% do check what the alternative true costs are.

TT must send you an end of contract notification and you can switch without penalty at that time (AIUI).  They'll likely make an offer then but not their best and final ;)

But calling TT and speaking to their Loyalty Team may elicit a better offer or price match to any alternative provider you might switch to?

I'll be doing the same in a month or so, as my contract expires on 2nd March.

I have always managed to get them down to a good price, The deal I am on now is £20 per month for 35m broadband and free anytime calls, have been on that for about 6 months. It is a 2 year contract which I am happy with as I have been with them for 11 years never had any problems. Did not really have to haggle with them, I told them I could get the same from Now broadband for £23 they came back and offered it for £20. I was a little surprised as I expected them to just match it.

  • the trouble with these counter offers is that they won't put them in writing leaving you vulnerable if they fail to deliver. Not necessarily saying they would'nt, but without a confirmation there is no contract, and in my case no way i would accept.

They even wanted me the cancel the deal I had set up elswhere before revealing the terms but again of no interest and too pushy in regards to fair marketing practices

I have always asked them to email me the details and confirmation and they always have. You have 14 days to cancel if you are not happy with it.
  • they refused to email me the details  unless I had cancelled the new deal so on that basis i was not happy tp proceed
