I have had a few Amazon packages that have opened without breaking seal/rip seal and would easily be resealed to look untampered
You can buy the tape quite readily on eBay anyway.

I've never had a package with that tape on it.

Get them to send you the package weight upon delivery if they are claiming to have that information.
Akin to supermarket self service checkouts there'll have proceedures in place to check items through the entire system. Weight being the obvious control check.
But it depends how granular that weight check is.

A processor doesn't weigh much and its weight is easily dwarfed by the packaging.

If it was opened by the courier and resealed, the OP would have no chance.
Packaging maybe weighed first. Then contents added. Then rechecked. Easy enough to do. Amazon aren't going to leave themselves open to spurious claims they cannot defend.
I seem to recall my Amazon packages having a weight on them but it was to the nearest 100g.

Removing a 53g processor by someone after it had left Amazon is highly unlikely to flag up any discrepancy.
And even if it was weighed that accurately, it only needs to be replaced with something of equivalent weight e.g. an extra bit of packaging.

Might be more helpful to the OP if you told them if you’d managed a successful challenge?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

After more talks to customer services and emails I gave up.
They insisted the correct item was sent to me.
    The item cost around £60.
I’m sure other people can give better advise.

    Brilliant.

I have though, and I suspect millions of others have too.

And since we're playing super-pedant, I don't literally mean the rolls of tape in the eBay listing.
  • The exact same thing happened to me last week, it was a £400 Garmin watch. I did open the package within 5 minutes of receiving, the actual Amazon box was intact, and the watch box was inside, however that box was empty with not even a charger in it. Amazon completely refused to do anything about it and directed me to the Police. However, the Police wouldn't even file a report as the delivery box did not look like it was broken into, therefore in theor eyes, it's on Amazon and their warehouse processes. I was totally taken aback by how rude every single Amazon customer services person was, just basically implying I was at fault and I was the thief. I've logged it with my bank, but not sure I'll get anywhere. If anyone else has any suggestions, please help!

Let your bank complete their process.  You may get a successful chargeback, but be warned that Amazon may then close your account, so if there's any music or book files on there, download them before your account gets closed.
