And now the BPA want £120!

I make my thoughts very clear on here about the BPA. They are a two faced organisation.
Their pretence in saying they are driving standards upwards is a farce when all the time they are dreaming up more ways for their members to make money and to hell with the motorists.
The government would be very foolish to listen to the BPA as did the DFT all those years ago and now look at the state of the parking industry which the BPA have now run into the ground and completely failed the motorist. This is not an association this is just a private parking scam club.
Let the BPA play with the councils, it is a different system for parking where the councils have their own appeals and if you disagree you can go to the TPT which is a professional independent service. It is rare to see councils take people to court unlike the cowboys in the private sector.
The BPA are currently winding the councils up with pure propaganda
The UK right now is in dire straights with money. people are dipping into poverty yet the BPA want to dive into money that is not available.
The fairy dream of the BPA that a £50 parking ticket will open up abuse is total and utter rubbish .. £50 is a lot of money and it WILL NOT create abuse
Unlike their competitors the IPC, I am not saying that BPA itself is a scammer, they just operate a scammers club with no intelligence
The government needs to remove the BPA from the private sector as they are not fit for purpose and an embarrassment to modern society
So Mr Gove in his attempt to level up must not allow motorists to be ripped off. But maybe the news story today might show his thoughts. And that is the building cladding problem that threatened 1000's of people with impossible debt ... a £4bn grant scheme to pay for repairs demanded by banks and insurers in wake of Grenfell fire
It certainly will not take £4bn to clean up the private parking industry and hopefully Mr Gove will extend his generosity and agree that £50 is the maximum charge for private parking operators to charge

Lets not loose track of what the British Parking Association limited are:A private members trade association, its main task is to look after the interests of its members, and a vast majority of its membership is interested in taking as much money as possible from the public.Car park management to ensure that people follow the car park owners rules does not matter one bit as that is not in the interests of the so called parking company if the "rules" are open enough and people do not breach them then the PPC makes no money .Its one of the perverse aspects of PPC land, where they spout car park management, but at the same time their interests is not helping the landowner/car park owners or businesses , its in trying to catch out as many drivers as possible in order to maximise the profits of a particular site and the motorist is there to be exploitedThe idea that the BPA is there for the motorist is laughable, asking for £120/£150 is of no surprise, in fact the cynic in me says this is a distraction/protest over the £50 limit ( which in my opinion is still far too much) ask for £120, moan complain, and lobby and hope they cave in and offer something like they already get as a compromise. From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"4 -
Everything you say is correct and it had crossed my mind that an ex double glazing salesman created the distraction making £100 cheaper than £120 ?Half_way said:The idea that the BPA is there for the motorist is laughable, asking for £120/£150 is of no surprise, in fact the cynic in me says this is a distraction/protest over the £50 limit ( which in my opinion is still far too much) ask for £120, moan complain, and lobby and hope they cave in and offer something like they already get as a compromise.
I am sending this thread to my MP to pass to Mr Gove as a reminder of this misplaced Association1 -

Yes, at the very least the private parking sector should be taken away from the BPA as over the years they have proven themselves to be failures and incompetent95Rollers said:The Government need to smash these useless wasters into the obsolete file! And the IPC/IAS should be investigated over the very poor appeals service that ensured an over 90% failure rate?
