it was sent through royal mail and arrived in one piece
was basically the chair wrapped in bin bags with lots of smaller boxes that had been opened right up and wrapped round the chair secured with lots and lots of parcel tape (nightmare to get into but did the job), so smaller boxes can do the job you just need more of them lol
i find it's always worth asking in a shop if they'd mind you taking their empty boxes instead of them going to the tip and then 'improvise'
(plus you get the fuzzy feeling of recycling)
Hope this helps
I know it's a different scenario but when I moved out of home, my friend and I asked the local supermarkets for boxes. They were very willing to give them away and some of them were quite big too.
I like recycling.

You could try asking for one on freecycle - I got rid of all our moving house boxes there:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0

When I sold my pushchair on e-bay I put it in 2 wheelie bin bags, as they were very strong and big, I just used some parcel tape to stick the top together. I posted it by Parcelforce.

Try Halfords or Motorworld - the Car Top boxes come in a huge cardboard outer that is often left in the store - people prefer to fit the roofbars and boxes before they leave.
Bike shops are usually a good source of thick boxes, but they tend to be a bit skinny.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I sold a buggy on eBay I just used flattened boxes from supermarket as the biggest one I could find was for telly's from a storage place. Tape them over with lots of bubble wrap. To be honest it was a lot of hassle and £25 up front for the courier (Royal Mail and that was the cheapest option!)
I have just sold a tandem buggy a few days ago on eBay and did it as "collection only" this time. Ok I only got £40 and a half hour drive to deliver it but a lot less hassle!
Funnily enough I turned up at the buyers house only to find a huge detached house in the suburbs with brand new car in driveway etc.
Guess this is how they afford the nice things (or they cant afford the mortgage...?)0 -
Try Matalan, they get a selection of sizes almost daily...
Also a FREE source of BUBBLE WRAP is the supermarkets as their best selling fruit line (Bananas) comes wrapped in it and they only throw it away. I always use this option and have even written it as a tip on one of my Ebay articlesEBay is the holy grail of Auction Sites, use it to clear your unwanted items and generate you some income to spend on whatever you want. Just don't get addicted like me

Offices have more carboard than you can imagine, and unlike supermarkets, no established crsuher/bailer/recycling/customer methodology of ridding themselves of them -ask and you shall recieve!0
