Broadband for a new home.

Not sure if anyone can advise on this.
So we had a house fire in a property we rented. After loads of bad luck we finally got a new home. Another rental but a lovely new home. A new build. It's fiber to home or something like that. So we have been told that we can't just have normal broadband. So instead of £15 a month its gonna be closer to double that. We don't need super speed. We are retired and just need TV and 2 phones plus a laptop on occasion.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Depends on who you want to use, major players that offer service over all types of networks ( ADSL, FTTC and FTTP ) charge a price for the speed wanted , so( for example ) 80Mb is the same price on FTTC or FTTP ( it isn’t available on ADSL as ADSL doesn’t go that fast ) …no provider I can think of supply’s broadband for £15 a month , if one does, but only on ADSL , then there isn’t nothing you can do if they don’t also offer a £15 service on FTTP, Openreach ( assuming it’s OR FTTP ) are not going to also fit a copper pair so a service provider can then offer £15 broadband

if your needs truly are very limited mobile broadband may be worth considering depending upon if you already have mobile phones/what package they are on & signal strength in your home. Even a stand alone dongle for the laptop may be worth considering.1

The cheapest fibre deal at the moment seems to be the Vodafone Superfast 100 deal at £23 per month, plus there's a £100 gift voucher.

If it's OpenReach, there's probably a selection of suppliers like SKY, TalkTalk, Vodafone, EE, BT etc who you can use.
However if it's another company like HyperOptic or one of the smaller suppliers then you may not have so much of a choice if they've got an exclusive agreement with the builders/housing associated etc
At present it looks like Vodafone is pretty cheap as you can get it for less than £20 and even 100mbit/s is only £23.50. AFAIK they are only supplying FTTP
Here's a list of providers who use the Openreach network but you'll have to use an availability check using the postcode and address of your new house to see who can offer a service Ultrafast Full Fibre broadband service providers | Openreach
Try this (you might need to use the address checker if you dont have a phone number for your premises) BT Broadband (btwholesale.com)Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
