Start by calling the probate office.

The copies of the grant that have been posted to us have our addresses on - does anyone know if this is the case with the copy that can be downloaded publicly, or are our addresses removed?

The problem is, this person is a violent drug addict with a long history of harassment, abuse and physical violence against family members, which we've no doubt will be made worse by their recent discovery they're not a beneficiary to this estate.
What an awful situation to be in.
I haven't downloaded a recent one but the ones I have do have the executors' full addresses on them.

Yeah, just spoke to the probate office and they said the same. The person I spoke to advised we email them with the issue, mark it as urgent, and ask whether we could have it redacted or change the addresses to a PO Box retrospectively, but he didn't sound hopeful it would be possible.

I'm very scared, and worried we may have to leave our home. A friend has advised we let the police know so that there's some kind of flag on our address for if we call so they know it's urgent, but - unfortunately - given this person's past behaviour, that won't necessarily be useful to us.

It's my own fault really, I didn't know addresses would be shown but i should have thought about this before and set up a PO Box or renounced as an executor, but it's (probably) too late now.

It would still be worth contacting your local police.

You say recently. They send the probate details to the website about 14 days afterwards. There is also a note on the gov.uk site at the moment, stating that since Nov 23rd they are having issues with being able to download online. So you may be ok for a bit.

You have my utmost sympathy on this,I had to move 300 miles away from my violent husband, and make sure he never found out my address,so I know how worried you must be.

Absolutely phone your local Police.  When my Mum had a problem, the Police gave her a code word she could use, should she need to, which indicated it was a serious problem and she needed help.

I have everything crossed it doesn't escalate for you.

I would be looking at who might have clout to lean on the probate office - which might be the police and your MP.

I applied for a copy of a will and grant of probate 2 days ago, it arrived this afternoon. Executors' addresses were on both documents
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

I think an MP would only get involved if the Probate Registry had not followed procedures. I don't think there's anything the police can do regarding executors' addresses. It is not that difficult to find someone's address if a person is really determined.

So sorry you find yourself in this situation and I hope the Probate Office are more help to you than they have been to me.  I wrote to them in August and still await a reply. I have emailed them and they answered one question very vaguely but ignored the rest. I can seldom get through to them on the phone so  you did well!   Fingers crossed that person doesn’t download the grant.
